Lee Seung-Cheol ( Hangul : 이승철, atau dieja Lee Seung-Chul; lahir 5 Desember 1966 di Seoul ) adalah seorang penyanyi Korea Selatan yang musiknya bergenre Soft rock, Pop rock & K-pop. Awal aku bisa tahu dia, gini ceritanya.. Waktu itu aku nonton Film More Than Blue,
nah kebetln Lee Seung-Chul pas akhir film klo gag salah, dia nyanyiin sebuah lagu yang berjudul No One Else. Pas ngedenger lagu itu, aku langsung suka, tersentuh & lagunya enak di dengar di kuping pencinta lagu Ballad seperti ku ini.. Aku semakin suka lagi waktu ngedenger Ost Baker King yang judulnya "That Person". liriknya bener-benr bagus, pemilihan kata"nya mantab, di dukung lagi dgn suara Lee Seung Chul yang Ballad" semakin mmbuat lagu itu terlihat sempurna, menurutku.
Dia dulu sempat punya band Rock dan dia sebagai vokal utama untuk bandnya itu.. sampai pada Oktober 1988 ia berpisah dengan bandnya dan sejak itu ia memilih untuk bersolo karir dengan merilis album solo pertamanya, “Don’t Say Good-bye” and “On a Sleepless Night”.
Melalui serangkaian konser yang diadakan pada waktu album solo pertamanya, Lee Seung-Chul mendapat julukan “The Emperor of Live Music”. Lee Seung-Chul prnah ditangkap Polisi karena nge-drugs, karirnya sebagai musisipun terhenti untuk sementara waktu. Dia kembali pada tahun 1990 with the album “Part 2." Dengan Lagu “The Last Concert“ yang termasuk dalam album itu, ia sukses besar dan ia pun kembali melanjutkan karirnya sebagai seorang penyanyi.
Pada tahun yang sama, Lee merilis album solo keduanya with the song "I Loved My Friend's Love". Namun, ternyata masalah obat-obatan terlarang tersebut masih mengikuti Lee dan dia ditangkap kembali karena drugs. Lee tidak lantas menyerah. He came back on stages thorough a series of national tour concerts in 1991.
Tahun berikutnya, Lee published a book of journals entitled "Portrait of Muse." Pada tahun 1995, Lee mengadakan konser mengesankan dengan the U.S.-based a cappella band "The New York Boys". Capturing the hearts of many pop music lovers with sophisticated sounds and melodies.. Pada bulan Juni 1995, Lee mengejutkan masyarakat dengan menikahi Kang Moon-young, seorang aktris. Rumah tagga mereka tidal berjalan lama, pasangan ini bercerai pada bulan Maret, 1997. Sejak perceraiannya, Lee terus aktif dalam kancah musik pop dengan merilis album terus. Lee juga berpartisipasi dalam berbagai OST film dan telah mengadakan konser di mana ia dapat menunjukkan yang terbaik dari dirinya untuk para penggemar musik.
Pada tahun 2002, Lee bergabung kembali dengan mantan bandnya 'Boowhal', after a rather long 15years of separation and produced the hit “Never ending story“ which seemed appropriate regarding the relationship between himself and “Boowhal“. This enabled Lee and “Boowhal“ to stand center stage once again with nearly 400,000 copies of album sales (Waow, Fantastic!!) and a sold-out national tour but the trip was to be short lived which left Lee and “Boowhal“ to go on to their separate ways. However, this didn’t slow Lee down at all. Determined as ever, Lee Seung-Chul continued to put out album after album, even a cooking-book of his favorite recipes. Furthermore, he celebrated his 20th anniversary since his debut in 2005 with a successful nation-wide tour and a Christmas concert which closed a very busy year for the singer.
